About

pic of me

My name is Heather and I live with my husband, 2 daughters, and dog in a home we have been renovating, on a lake in Ontario, Canada. Every day on the lake seems to be an adventure since nature and wildlife offer many surprises and moments of wonder and fascination with a dash of trauma thrown in. Most of what I post is expressed through more photographs than words. I do not consider myself a photographer but rather someone who loves photography and takes a LOT of pictures!

This blog began as an attempt to document our home renovation and to share with friends and family who live afar, photos of what we have been up to. However, it has quickly turned into a photographic journey of daily life on the lake as well as a place to note further inspirations from many sources including cooking, gardening, the outdoors and the joy of kids and childhood.

Partly out of enjoying a challenge and partly due to saving a buck, much of what we do is DIY and I will attempt to document our ongoing projects for future reference and for anyone else who may find them useful. Don’t hesitate to let me know your thoughts. I enjoy the feedback!

  1. You are so lucky that you live near nature’s beauty. I wish that I could be a part of you family to live there to enjoy the beauty. Well you have nice Blog with interesting things. I am following it. Thanks for stopping by my Blog and liking. Hope you enjoyed the another way of nature’s beauty in the form of Flower in my Blog. Keep coming and enjoy.
    Have a nice weekend 🙂

    • Yes, I feel so lucky every day to live where we do. I love your flower photos as well. Thank you so much for your kind words and for following my blog. I look forward to more of yours as well!

  2. I’m watching the Devils-Rangers game as I type. 🙂 Knowing an NHL player will pique your interest for sure. Which team does he play for?

We have a summer place in the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming that we feel about as you do about your house on the lake. It’s such a blessing to have a place in the wonderful outdoors!! Can’t access ours in the winter because of snow (it’s at about 7,000′) but I long to be out there. Wish I could be there all summer!!

    • Please don’t take this the wrong way, but out of respect for the privacy of the child’s family, I feel it would be wise of me not to say. Thank you for your interest though.

Your place sounds beautiful! I am sure you are looking forward to spending some time there this summer. Sometimes when a place can’t be reached at a certain time of year, it makes you long for it even more and appreciated it more as well when you finally get there.

      • I didn’t even think about that. Sorry! How cool, though!

Yes, I’m really looking forward to going out again in August. Although I wish it would be soon, that would mean summer was almost over, so I’m content to wait and look forward to it.

  3. Great spot!! You must love it. Are you a hockey fan? I sort of assume most Canadians are and I am, even though I’m not north of the border. Loving watching the countdown to the Cup! Best of luck on the DIY. I’ll drop by again to check on the progress. 🙂

    • Thank you! We pinch ourselves every day that we live here 🙂
I am sure I am one of the few Canadians who doesn’t really know much about hockey but since my daughter has become friends with the child of an NHL player, I have began watching a little and am enjoying it when I do. I can’t watch all the games, but when there is a game that will advance the team or not, I enjoy it. Pathetic, I know 🙂 Thanks again for stopping by!
